Reconnecting With Body And Mind Through Soulful Yoga
In this interview, we spoke with Georgina, Founder of Soulful Yoga
A: Who are you and what do you do?
G: I’m Georgina, yoga teacher and therapist dedicated to helping people improve their health and well-being. I specialise in yoga therapy – a therapeutic practice that integrates yoga, counselling, psychotherapy, and somatic techniques to promote health and well-being. I help people reconnect with both their bodies and minds, to overcome health challenges, stress and trauma. In my one-to-one sessions, I work with people who are dealing with issues such as trauma, stress, anxiety, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, stress-related illnesses, and emotional or physical imbalances. By utilising nervous system regulation techniques alongside mindful movement, breath-work, and therapeutic conversation, I help clients understand the root causes of their stress and ill-health. My approach is both gentle and effective, ensuring that from the very first session, you begin to feel a shift – a deeper connection with yourself that supports lasting change.
What led you to starting Soulful Yoga?
I first started practicing yoga 20 years ago. At first I just enjoyed how it made me feel, I’ve never been particularly into sport or anything physical and so it was great to finally find a way to connect with my body. Over the years I started to see that the benefits of yoga went far beyond enjoying a good stretch. Through different life challenges, including becoming a mum, overcoming personal trauma and more than a couple of bouts of burnout from being a busy, self-employed parent, I have found yoga and yoga therapy to be vital in keeping me healthy and strong. I have also been frustrated to see that many conventional healing modalities tend to treat the mind, body, and lifestyle as separate issues. This fragmented approach often misses the essential truth that we are holistic creatures and all these separate parts of us are really intertwined and work together. So I founded Soulful Yoga
to offer a more holistic alternative – one that honours the connection between mind and body. My passion is rooted
in empowering people to understand themselves better, embrace self-compassion, and develop practical tools for resilience. I truly believe that healing happens when we consider the whole person, rather than just isolated symptoms.
What does Soulful Yoga offer?
At Soulful Yoga, my primary offering is one-to-one yoga therapy, which is designed to meet your unique needs. These sessions combine the best of several worlds – traditional yoga practices, psychotherapy, somatic techniques and nervous system regulation practices – to help you gently release tension, rebuild a sense of inner balance and overcome stress and ill-health. I also offer private yoga sessions for those who wish to deepen their practice or for whom physical challenges make attending group classes difficult. Additionally I run group classes that focus on coming into the moment and feeling good, and I hold regular retreats and workshops. I have a weekend retreat coming up in May and a day retreat in June.
Where’s your favourite place to visit in Norfolk and why?
My favourite place in Norfolk is right at the end of my garden, hidden behind my greenhouse. It’s where I can sit in the sunshine in the grass, surrounded by plants (and quite a
few weeds), far away from the busyness of life. I am lucky to have open fields behind my house and a good view of the sunset, it’s a pretty classic Norfolk scene and I’m really grateful to call it home.
