Making A Home For British Designers With Atwin
In this interview, we spoke with Bonnie Doonan, the founder of Atwin,
a womenswear store based on Bridewell Alley.
A: Who are you and what do you do?
B: Hey! I’m Bonnie, owner of Atwin Store. We’re a womenswear and lifestyle store that support small British designers and makers. We’ve had our store in Norwich for over 3 years now and love being part of the incredible independent shopping scene Norwich is known for.
What is something you’d love people to know about Atwin?
Our freshest news is that we’ve just launched our own clothing line! We’re so excited to be designing our own clothes and working with a local seamster to have them made.
Did you know that everyone that works at Atwin is a jeweller and has their jewels stocked in-store? I have my own studio for my jewellery brand Studio Adorn above the shop floor where we host regular workshops and Lou Clarke has her studio up on the second floor where she shares with paper goods designer Kate. It’s a hive of creativity!
What has been your favourite part about curating the current stock?
We work together as a team to choose makers and brands we think would work for the shop, I love that our personal styles all play a part in the curation. It means there’s lots of influences in the styles we chose and that there’s something for everyone!
Where’s your favourite place to visit in Norfolk and why?
For a close to home stroll I love the woods and fields close to our house. Watching the kids run through the fields and the trees is magical. If we are going on a day out we usually head out to North Norfolk, West Runton beach is our favourite for rock pooling, Wells if we fancy a mooch around shops and you can’t beat a day in Great Yarmouth for fish and chips and Joyland! We’re spoilt for choice in Norfolk with so many gorg beaches.
Nestled in the historic Norwich lanes down Bridewell Alley.
